Julie approached us after being referred by a previous client of ours. She was in need of a website as her gardening business – Jules’ Gardening – didn’t have one. Julie already had a website design she wanted to use, but needed it coded into a functioning website, so she came to us! Julie needed her website ready in three weeks.
Julie had a lot of different services to offer to her customers, she wanted to be able to edit these and also add new services from her website. A booking system for her customers, a blog and a simple stock database were also required. For this reason we developed Julies website using our CMS development service.
We developed Julies website using the open-source content management system, WordPress. We chose this CMS as it allowed her to easily add & edit content and services, blog and we were able to develop the booking system and stock database within the Administration area.
A SMS notification feature was implemented to the booking and stock system, this sent out text notifications to staff and customers when certain events were triggered, such as a new booking request or when an item was low in stock. This feature improved efficiency and response times to potential and existing customers. The website took 140 hours to develop.
After developing the site, we ran multiple training sessions with Julie (who was a self-confessed technophobe!) to allow her to get comfortable with her website and the features it offered. We also helped with the creation of her Facebook and Twitter accounts which would help with local advertising and an improved presence on the web.
In the first three months after launch, Julie’s monthly enquiry rate was 4x higher than it was before she had a website!
